Vale Norm McKenzie

With a heavy heart we recognise the passing of one of our true greats, Norm McKenzie.

Norm’s life at the Keilor Football Club spanned more than two decades, and his influence was profound. He was our Senior Captain Coach for 5 years (1967-1971), won the Senior Best & Fairest in 1967, and led the club as Captain Coach to the 1968 B-Grade Premiership, which significantly, promoted us up to A-Grade, where we’ve now stayed for the last 50 years.

In 1973, Norm was a member of our very first A-Grade Premiership, and he also took on the role of Club Secretary. Norm then coached the Reserves for 3 years (1979-1981), as well as the Under 13’s in 1981, before taking on the major role of Club President for 2 years (1984-1985).

In total, Norm played 111 Senior (A-Grade/B-Grade) games for Keilor. He later became our 16th Life Member, as well as President of our Life Members Association, and was named on the Half Forward Flank in our Team of the Century.

Norm was a huge influence on our club, and our hearts and best wishes go out to the extended McKenzie family.
