IMPORTANT MESSAGE – PLEASE READ
The Brimbank City Council has released its draft budget, despite the best efforts of our Ward Councillors Virginia Tachos and Jae Papalia their motion to provide funding for much needed kitchen and toilet upgrades at Keilor Sports Club was defeated 6 to 5 on the casting vote of the Mayor.
This draft budget is open to public comment until 19 May and you can have your say by accessing the following link
https://yoursay.brimbank.vic.gov.au/budget22/submissionIf we are to have any chance of changing the draft budget it is imperative that as many members as possible access the link and comment on the inequity of not providing funding for the Sports Club.
Our sporting club is the heart of our community, we have 1300 participants across football, cricket and life activities and their ages range from 5 to 99!!
These numbers don’t even include parents, club supporters or external groups who use the facility, 35% of our participants are female and this percentage is increasing rapidly. The number of participants has increased by over 40% since 2018 and more than 50% of our 1300 participants reside outside of Keilor in other areas of Brimbank.
We are a Club which is inclusive, does not discriminate and we welcome anyone who wishes to participate. We’re the largest volunteer run Community Club in Brimbank yet the Council have higher priorities than attending to our 35 year old facilities which we all know are manifestly inadequate.
The Council Link may give the impression it is necessary to upload a file to comment, this is not the case as you can provide your written comments in the box provided and move the process. If we are to change the Budget we need to engage in the your say process.
We are asking for your comments to support the upgrade, as an example you can copy and paste the below message;
